Auto Truck’s Partner of the Year Awards

Auto Truck is pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Partner of the Year (POY) awards. The year-end announcement of the POY awards is the culmination of the yearly Partners in Excellence (PIE) program which celebrates the exceptional efforts by employees towards fulfilling the primary goal of the company; to produce a high quality product delivered in a timely manner to the customer. The first of three employees selected for POY awards is Ally Cole, Operations, at Colorado Springs. Because of her support and dedication to the purchasing group, along with helping on numerous projects and training staff, Ally has earned this award. The second POY was awarded to Frank Bennett, Paint, at Fort Wayne due to his positive attitude and willingness to run the third shift when it was needed. The final winner is David Rossiaky, Sales, at Bartlett. David has created great relationships with top customers and has managed complex projects on their behalf. The annual recognition program also includes the selection of weekly and quarterly award-winners from an eligible pool of more than 700 employees throughout the eleven Auto Truck locations across North America.

The PIE initiative was launched 4-1/2 -years ago by the Executive Team, led by Jim Dondlinger, and the General Managers, as a way to recognize the work of individual employees who go above and beyond what’s expected of them; rewarding their efforts, demonstrating their direct involvement in achieving PIE goals, and helping employees understand what’s important to the customer. “The Auto Truck Partner of the Year awards program is one the most important initiatives in our company,” states Jim Dondlinger, President, Auto Truck Group “This years winners demonstrate the focus and dedication of all our employee, and are the reason Auto Truck clients continue to experience service excellence across all aspects of our business.” PIE goals such as on-time delivery, estimated vs. actual hours, safety and health, enhanced training, as well as others are assessed and established for each year. The list of goals are posted throughout each facility beginning in January so that employees can keep them top-of-mind as they go about their work day.

“Every employee has a direct impact on meeting our PIE goals”, says Jenny Skrbina, Director of Partners in Excellence. “It’s vital that everyone involved knows that what they do makes a difference.”

Partner of the Week awards begin with a supervisor or team leader recognizing an employee for his or her actions, whether they work in the office, the shop floor, or in the field. The Partner of the Quarter is a peer-to-peer nomination process, with winners announced at a celebration luncheon after the end of each quarter. The Executive Team hosts the luncheons in each location, presenting certificates and prizes to the winners, and commending their efforts towards achieving the PIE goals. Partner of the Quarter winners are automatically entered into the running for Partner of the Year.  Additional POY nominations can be submitted from any employee within the business.  The finalists’ names are announced in late November and the winners’ names are announced at a celebration in mid-December. The POY winners each receive an all-expense-paid trip for two plus other prizes.

“Our employee recognition program is a differentiator in the marketplace”, says Jim Dondlinger. “Our employees are our greatest asset and we want them to come to work each day with a sense of purpose.  It’s a positive culture that benefits them, the company, and our clients.”
